The Heliwing team are helicopter professionals devoted to operating a safe and efficient service.
Heliwing pilots hold appropriate flight crew licences and ratings and hold Gro-Safe agrichemical certificates for chemical application including pole rot gel chemical and additives for insulator line washing. Heliwing team flying experience totals over 30,000 hours in low level flying: spraying, construction, electricity and telephone cable stringing, lifting, charter, survey work, forest development, fire fighting, fire lighting, day and night operations.
Denis Hartley's managerial skills drive this progressive company, with assistence from the Australian Manager Kevin Murphy who has extensive aviation and managerial experience.

Heliwing Helicopters Managing Director and Chief Pilot Denis Hartley was first introduced to flying at 14 years of age when he began flight training in Tiger Moths. In his final years at college he obtained commercial pilot status and began a career in agricultural aviation, flying various types of fixed wing aircraft.
In 1973 Denis commenced helicopter flying carrying out multi-function roles including agricultural spraying and topdressing, charter, long-line sling work, fire fighting, high ravine mountainous region operations, pest control shooting, live animal capture, power line and telecommunication maintenance, air ambulance and search and rescue tasks. Denis has carried out more than 1,000 mercy missions since his helicopter-flying career began.
During his flying career Denis has accumulated over 20,000 hours flying time, including twin engine helicopter experience. He has instructed pilots in both fixed and rotary wing aircraft and has flight examiner status to carry out NZCAA flight competency checks. Denis' flight instruction includes training pilots in NZ, Australia and South East Asia to fly power line maintenance, insulator washing operations and other aerial work.
Denis is married with three children. His wife Jacqueline is a director of the company and is responsible for company manuals and documentation, and company safety policies. Their son Wayne flies with the Company and is Area Manager/pilot in one of the operational areas.
